Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Many years ago, in fact whilst I was still at school studying general science, I had always thought that there was a marked similarity between our universe and what we know as atoms, nucleii, electrons, etc. The similarity of their structure was, to me, significant. Just imagine our universe being an atom in the make-up of some vast structure or being!!

Equally, I fail to believe that we are the only intelligent lifeform in this, or any other, universe. We have been able to send signals out into space. We have been able to send spaceships and probes out into space. So why shouldn't there be others doing the same thing?

As scientific technology improves and we are able to expand our space horizons further, I believe that, eventually, some form of contact will be made. I am just not sure how this will be seen. In the meantime, we should continue to send our signals out and continue to look for those incoming. Whether success will be achieved in my lifetime I doubt, but I would love it to happen! Hence, my small, but, I hope, useful contribution in joining SETI@Home.
