Profile: Craig Rodenberg

Personal background
I'm 37, and live in McKinney, Texas. Dr. Sagan's Cosmos television series had a large impact on me when I was growing up. After a tour in the Navy, I majored in Computer Science and Computational Mathematics. I do not search the stars or study astrophysics as I had originally hoped. My career path took the form of Information Security engineering. Crypto, Crypto, Crypto........

Astrophysics is still a passion of mine, although I have very limited time to pursue it.

Maybe one of my kids will pursue the Astrosciences. Who knows.......?
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do you think extraterrestrial life exists?

Statistical probability insists that life does exist in places other than Earth.

If so, when and how will humans discover it?

That's Impossible to accurately predict. However, as we put more effort in to discovering extraterrestrial life, our chances of being successful must increase.

What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery?

As with any major discovery, the results will be influenced by our reaction to it. It would be presumptious to predict actual benefits or dangers, since we cannot predict what we will find, where we will find it and under what circumstances the discovery will be made.
