Profile: Et Ceterus

Personal background
Greetings, earthlings! I'm 17 and currently a senior in high school. I like to read, especially technology- and medical-related stuff, play badminton, compose music electronically, draw, and paint. I also play clarinet and cornet in band, and recorder on the side. My friends and I can't wait for winter at the moment- we want to go snowboarding!!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I don't really believe there is life existing outside this planet, but the search for it and the theories are very interesting. Though my opinion centers on the negative, I do believe the concept of possible extraterrestrial life can spark one's creative potential and invoke deep, analytical thought - which is quite as important as actually finding evidence of otherworldly life. One particular experiment I found intriguing was the etched gold-plated record showing instructions to be played that was sent into space several years ago. While it could very well be a futile attempt to connect with other beings, it was something to wonder about and debate with others. Why bother running this program then? As Maas would say, "I stand corrected" if my views are one day proven wrong. If it is for the benefit of scientific research (and hey, it's free!) then why not? It is also a good opportunity to learn about "data crunching" and such! This program is very well done with remarkable intentions, and the knowledge gained from the studies could very well be worth it!
