Personal background
Calvin J Red
I am a Texan from the word go.
Was one of twin boys born just out side a 40 acre thicket about 4 miles north of Altoga in Collin county Texas. This was August 15 1925 and as we were 7 months babies and were not supposed to live at that time. I think a Doctor came to the house but it was out of the question to go to a hospital. I made it and my Twin Alvin did not.
Grew up in the cotton field, Toped onions, milked cows, worked in the fields until I was 17 and found out I was the poorest kid in the county. I could join the navy at seventeen so on August 16 1942 I joined the US Navy. I went all over the first ship I was assigned to and didn't find a cotton patch so I stayed for 22 years.
I studded Electricity and electronics and retired in late 1963 as a Chief ET.
Went to work for Texas Instruments on automatic machinery which turned into computer controled machinery when computers came along and stayed there for 20 years. With two retirements and a good wife I am having a ball.
I set my goal to live until the year 2000. I made it and its all gravy from now on.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think extraterrestrial life must exist. It would be such a waste if there is none other than on our earth.
2. I think all the information bad and good that we are sending might be enough.
3. If I don't find anything maybe my replacement grandson might. Or his grandson.
