Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I love the idea of millions of computers collaborating in a vast grid to tackle previously unthinkable processing tasks, all in their spare time! And I've always loved the idea that there are worlds and civilisations out there, things to learn, places to explore and cool ways to fly there.

Of course there are obstacles. For one thing, when we ask ourselves Is there intelligent life out there? it seems to me to make some big assumptions about the present tense and what exactly we think we mean by it.

But who knows what we can discover by looking. The grid computing project itself has already broken new ground. This is a great experiment and I love being part of it.
