Profile: Mike Kentley

Personal background
I'm a freelance integrated circuit chip designer living in Bend, Oregon.
I'm into running, camping, cooking and flying. I run SETI@Home on several PC's
ranging from a 266PII through a 1200Mhz Athlon.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that someone else is out there, somewhere. I don't know
what the odds are that the SETI program will ever find them, but I know what
the odds are if we don't even try. I'm happy to donate my spare CPU cycles to
the effort!

If we were to transmit a beacon, that would be really interesting. I would want
to send pictures of the earth -- our cities and landscapes, people and animals
and the oceans, and ask for pictures of their worlds. I'm not too worried about
invading aliens -- we'd probably have plenty of notice that they were coming,
but it would be neat to know for a fact that there is someone else out there
and what they are like.
