Personal background
I'm a computers' systems analyst working at a huge oil company in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I'm 28 years old and on my 25th birthday gave myself a gift: a working SETI@Home client. By the way, it seems that the Linux client runs much better than the Windows client, i.e., I am able to generate more results when analyzing in Linux. It's being a pleasure to enter this community of science-lovers. I enjoy Astronomy since my early years, when I was able to watch Carl Sagan's Cosmos on TV in Brazil. As far as I remember, I always believed we are not alone in the Universe. I'm sure one day the humanity will find out that. And I'm here to help us somehow. I enjoy so much science that now I know I would be more happy working on it. Unfortunately, here in Brazil is very hard to work on this subject. So I chose a "normal" job as analyst. But one day I will find out a way to work on any kind of science.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe SETI@Home itself is fabulous. Even if we find nothing at all, it is still of incommensurable value. It's the biggest peer to peer science project, and being able to be part of if is great. At least we science lovers but not scientists can help somehow. It's a pitty that this project suffers from lack of support. I believe this project should go on and on, as long as we humans exist...
