Personal background
I am currently running 2 Seti Clients. I am currently running SETI on 1 Windows XP Pro machine, and 1 Vista machines.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Considering the size of the universe. The likelihood that we are not alone becomes quite high. As for finding life on other planets, I think that we will find it eventually. However if there is intelligent life out there I think that will be discovered purely by accident. I sometimes wonder what would become of humans if we find out that we are not alone. Talk about a diplomatic problem. So much to take into account, one misinterpation on either side could have disastrous results. Who would we send to represent the entire world?

2. I personally feel that the question of if we should transmit a message is rather mute now. We sent a message back in the 1970's using the same dish we get the data we are crunching now, the Arecibo Radio Observatory. Both Voyager satellites have signs on them that say where we are. Using pulsar maps and our position on the solar system.

3. I run the program because of two reasons. I want do my part to answer the question once and for all. Is there anyone else out there? The second is the method of using unused computer time that people have to do a project. That’s a lot of computer power.
