Personal background
I am from central Minnesota and I am 20 yrs old. I am currently attending St. Cloud State University (SCSU) for a major of Computer Science with a speciality in Artificial Intelligence. My hobbies are closely related to my major. They are: computer programming (including graphing calculator programs), website master, model rocket flying, and my primary hobby is theoretical technology development. What is that?? Well, basically I come up with technology (methods and devices) which is like Star Trek as well as other SciFi technology. I have founded a small group that works on this stuff. Some of the technology that we come up with is (and will be) on my website at http://techdevcorps.netfirms.com. Supplementing the technology I develop is equations, theories, principles and postulates regarding "space-time", etc.My two favorite books are: The Fabric of Reality By David Deutsch and The Elegant Universe By Brian Greene. I suggest reading these two books, if you have even a little knowledge in physics and especially read these books if you have a large physics background.Another thing I do, although not really a hobby is that I meditate and study logic reasoning. I have many strong beliefs, most of which are based on or related to mathematics or the sciences. For example, I believe the the existence of extra-terrestrials, primarily because the fact that there is so many planets out there that the probability that another supports life is extremely great.Any questions?, just go to my site, visit it and then email me (email address on site...). One last thing, thanx to the SETI people for actually looking for E.T. and you, who support SETI, either fincially or computer time wise.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do I think ET life exists? Yes, The probability of such exteremly great. When and how will we discover it? I answer that with another question: Is it that we will find it or will it find us? (i.e. Star Trek: First Contact) The benefits of such a discovery would be a Star Trek like society-reform and the dangers of such are much greater. (i.e. Independence Day)Should we transmit a signal? Yes, because what if every lifeform out therefore was looking for others' signal's, but no sent them out? What should we send?? Something simple and universal, such as the prime numbers between 1 and 100! (i.e. Contact by Carl Sagan)I run SETI@Home because I want to help find ET's signal (if one exists). I think it is an excellent idea, however, we should not just be looking for radio signals, I think we should looking for other evidence. Personally, I would like to know exactly what is going on in Area 51.
