Personal background
I live in Canada, where I enjoy both summer and winter sporting activities. When the weather is too extreme, I can usually be found in front of my computer, programming, playing games or just surfing the internet.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do I think extraterrestrial life exists? Why not, by just saying no you limit yourself of thoughts and potential ideas that could be a bendfit to yourself and others around you. Chances are that we will be observed for years before we are introduced to our visitors, to see if we are a threat to them and/or the rest of the universe. A benefit of dicovering we are not alone in this universe, global enlightenment; a possible danger might be if the people in power decide that if it isn't human, it should be neutralized.

Should we be broadcasting a beacon? Most definitely, I think it would be important for us to try and find others, maybe in this part of the galaxy we are the ones that are the most technologicaly advanced. It would sort of be up to us to help group everyone together and create a galactic community.

Why do I run SETI@home? I am of the opinion that we can not be alone in this universe, and I want to help with the research by donating my excess CPU cycles.
