Personal background
34 year (at the time of this writing) old male living in
Toronto, Canada. I work in the local film industry as a
security watchman. I include computer gaming, movies,
reading, entertaining, etc. as my "hobbies". My favourite
expression (which probably says alot about me) is:
"I'm too busy being crazy to go insane"
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that it is simply a matter of time that mankind
discovers beyond doubt that there IS "intelligent" life
beyond our blue gem planet. We so haughtily flaunt our
"superiority" over other resident lifeforms of Earth that
these other extraterrestrial civilizations probably avoid
us like the plague. I'm hoping that through programs such
as SETI@home; people as a whole will mature and take
responsibility for what is only a stewardship of this
planet and its, to our knowledge, amazingly rare quantity
of varied organic life. The "dangers" inherent in such a
discovery will be more of our own making than any "alien
invasion" scenario. It is my opinion that governments and
/ or the world militaries have already established contact
with a space-faring civilization and has decided on the
public's behalf that we are not ready, etc. When will we
be ready? When we mature. When things like hate, racism,
terrorism, war, political and religious infighting are a
thing of the past.
