| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

| I think that it would be very myopic of anybody to think that we are the only intelligent creatures in the universe. It is my hope that there would/could be another civilization within the 100 light years that SETI is searching, but I do have to admit that it would be very much like winning the lotto if we did find something that close. Although, as they say, "You have to be in it to win it"...and this is the one that we have to win eventually. I think in the long run, the fate of mankind depends upon it. In the very least "they" would save mankind from itself in a way that we have yet proven either the will or the ability to do so. |
