Personal background |
I'm a 4th year university student studying in Computer science (internet computing) and Information Systems (business Information Systems, Multimedia Information Systems) at Murdoch University in Perth Australia.
I have recently managed to upgrade to a Pentium 4 2GHz, and wanted to see how it would go crunching numbers for SETI, and have been pleased with the result. I am interested in internet tooling, multimedia development, and I work for an ISP in Perth.
I am also a bit of a Ham Radio user, in the UHF frequency. Drop by on UHF CB 10 (476.650MHz) if your in the city, and You could probably catch me.
I am part of the Mustang Radio club (Mustang 16), and we get together for the odd barbeque and a laugh.
Hopefully I will finish my degree at the end of this year... (2002) and be off into the wide world of fulltime work...

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I think there has to be extra terrestrial life... there are too many stars out there for there not to be...
On the other hand though, lmost everyone wishes for there to be ETI, because otherwise we would be completely alone... and thats a little scary...
After seeing movies like species, it is a bit of a question about what info we should broadcast out into space, but i doubt lifeforms would honestly have any intentions like those if they were to receive the information. I think they would have to be somewhat akin to us in their intentions to listen for distant radio communications like we are...
I run SETI@home for the fun of the fact that maybe, just maybe My computer could find the little chunk of intelligible transmission... though i doubt it... but its still a thought in the back of my head... hehehehe
