Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Why do you run SETI@home?
I think that extraterrestrial life exist, but... or they wouldn't like to get into contact, or they cann't do it, or they cant't see us - only ~50 years ago people have made powerful radiotransmitters, which could detect only if the distance between aliens and Earth lower 50 light years.
Information about humanity have already sent (Pioneer-10,11; Voyager-1,2; radiosignals). It is sufficiently for first contact.
I believe some "radiovoices" will be detected by SETI@home... I am using my celeron-1300 24 hours per day for SETI.
2. What are your views about the project?
I dislike that there are not SETI@home client which use iSSE. I think, SSE can accelerate SETI@home client. 5-10 CPU cycles per FLOP is very low efficiency!
