Personal background
Like my fellow volunteers here, I represent an inquisitive species and a young civilization, which is still lacking the answers to the most basic, profound questions. While searching for extraterrestrial intelligence, we're also approaching the explanation of what terrestrial intelligence is.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'd be both surprised and disappointed if our biosphere here were the only home of life in our universe. The technical difficulties in searching for life elsewhere are enormous of course, but how could we possibly not even try? One could argue that discovering extraterrestrial intelligence would be – or will be – the most significant discovery in the history of humankind.

Being old enough to remember the time before the Internet, I'm totally fascinated by the kind of computing project that SETI@home is! However small my personal contribution may be, I'm happy to participate...
