Personal background
Im from south east England I work within the RF industry for which ive been involved with for over 7 years now. One of my main interests is Ufology as well as general aviation/space technology and related sciences. SETI has always interested me since there early days, its great to see home users helping out aswell as the good sponsorship from the tech companies involved.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do you think extraterrestrial life exists? If so, when and how will humans discover it? What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery?

Yes i do believe ET exists. As for discovering it, clues may lie on this planet or maybe Mars. I think THEY may know we are here but may not want to be discoverd yet. Benefits would be great technological leaps, greater understanding of the universe maybe. Dangers could be upsetting the social structure on this planet or inviting in a possible hostile and war like race, or new germs and bacteria foreign to Earth.

Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find? If so, what information should we send?

Well we have been transmitting since the first radios and tv's where fired up, so if ET is looking at RF we have been indirectly transmitting a beacon for the last 50-60 years!! For a direct transmission, maybe a high power high orbit high frequencey transmitter? possibly one placed on the moon or mars so background earth based RF does not interfer as much?

Why do you run SETI@home? What are your views about the project? Any suggestions?

I run SETI@home due to my interests in this project and what it signifies. I think the project is going well and it was a good move by SETI to setup the data sifting for home users to help speed things up. More sponsorship i think would help, also having divisions setup in other countries like the UK to help with the project.
