Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
not only is seti good for spare cpu cycles, but it's for a good scientific cause. i also think the technology behind it will pave the way for similar uses in the future as far as collective computing is concerned. Intelligent life might exist somewhere, but I doubt we'll know in this lifetime. It's hard to imagine it out there as we go through our everyday mundane lives. I'm sure if and when we discover it, it will change the ideals of humanity forever.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
