I am in a committed relationship. Mom to seven children ages 23,21,19,18,17,15, and 8. (3 girls, 4 boys) Not all of them at home now. Formerly a professional broadcaster, working in radio June of 1986 to October 2006. Spent some time as a pizza cook in a Mom and Pop pizza shop May 2007 - May 2011. Technical Relations Associate for an ISP from 2011 to 2013. Currently a Customer Support Associate for a cell phone provider.
I am opinionated, intelligent, and believe in everyone's right to a roof over their head and 3 square meals a day. I understand that sometimes life deals major blows and people need a hand up - not a hand out.
I believe there is life out there, and that we're not alone. Beliefs inspired by Star Trek (in its many incarnations), Babylon 5, Andromeda, and other science fiction. I believe in the good in people. Although the older I get, the more cynical about some things I become.
I enjoy gardening, cooking, crocheting, and various arts and crafts. I love to learn new things, and read voraciously. I have many other interests too, and not enough space here to mention it all. Above all else, I AM Canadian! =-) |

I don't know if we'll discover life out there in my lifetime. Who's to say the evidence isn't already here? The benefits to actually knowing we're not alone, might possibly put us in contact with a civilization such as ours, more advanced, or less advanced, just so we can say we're right. The dangers are they could be a holstile race.
I think it would be interesting if a beacon were sent out. What to send, that's very interesting, since we don't really know that these beings could understand our language or interpret light the way we do. I suppose the theory of prime numbers, or science, in some way communicate our history, of who we were, and who we are becoming. Through photographs, drawings, sound. It's such an unknown.
I run SETI@home because the older I get the more I believe there has to be more than just us, and if I can be helpful in finding the answers, that is both an honour and a priviledge. |
