Profile: Jason Byrne

Personal background
I hope that someday, after we've discovered a bona-fide signal and maybe even sent one of our own in response, I can turn to my kids and say "I was a part of that."
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do not believe we are alone in the Universe, though I am extremely skeptical of Earth ever having had any "visitors." I support the idea of us sending out a high-powered beacon signal. Perhaps somewhere out there is a planet at about the same level of technology out there (advanced life perhaps only being possible around younger stars whose planets have the benefit of more variety of elements) and while they won't receive it for some time, at least they will know they are not alone.
