Personal background
I'm a 31 year old, unemployed Unix Systems Administrator. I was born in California, but have spent most of my life here in Washington State. I'm a Mariners fan, and enjoy multi-player games (cards -> Ultima Online and everything in between). I've recently been building up my woodshop, and have started playing around with building things, and/or repairing things that come my way. So far its allot of fun. I'd used to ride bikes allot, but it wasn't an interest my friends shared in, so its kind of fallen by the way side.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I enjoy crunching seti for both the competition, and the science. I feel that if you are given a WU, you should crunch it. I've heard too many people asking about long WU's, and short WU's, and things like, is there any way to skip the long WU's, they are hurting my productivity rating, and those questions just make me ill. If you are going to play the game, play in right, and by the rules. Doing anything else just ruins it for everyone else.

As for ET... I sure hope so. my reasoning:
From the religious point of view:
If ET doesn't exist, why did god waste so much space?
From the non-religious point of view:
No matter how small the odds... look how big the universe is!

Either way, I'd actually be more surprised if ET didn't exist. I think the big question is, how hard would they try and avoid us? I take pride in being a human, but lets face it, we've screwed up this world, and our society so many tymes, that I'd hesitate to contact us!
