Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
1)
I think that to assume, given the size of the universe, that we are the only intelligent life is very presumptuous and arrogant.
We will discover this life when the human race grows up and these other beings deem it time to show themselves.
2)
As far as a signel is concerned, that depends on the nature of the universe, if there are hostiles out there then a beacon would just advertise our presence but as we have been sending TV and radio signals into space for the last 50 years or so they may know already so it becomes an academic question.
3)
I run SETI@home to help the human race find some signs of intelligent life.
I think this is a brilliant idea.
The only suggestion I can think of is to advertise for even more people to run it, that way you(we) can get through more information. |
