Personal background
I'm from Australia. I live in Homebush which is a suburb of Sydney and am fast approaching the seniors group... and that's me seaching the skies...(It is not a photo of an alien... mind you I have some friends who might query that) I'm holding binoculars but the small image isn't very clear.

I have undergraduate and post graduate studies in Maths and Physics.

When I was a kid I wanted to be an astronomer or a detective... then I thought I might do surveying.. In later life I actually studied aspects of surveying; Geodetic Surveying really interested, but I never became occupationally involved. Like everybody, I have studied Astronomy but it has never been formal. Its probably all confused. I will quote an example of what I mean. I was once involved taking an external course. We students all met at a residential group but couldn't understand each other on our first meeting; we all had weird pronunciation of the terms. Communication is very important to tease out the subtleties of any program of study.

I took up teaching when I was around thirty, now I have my own educational consultancy
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI is intriguing.... the unknown and the yet to be discovered... What's more refreshing than being involved in wonderful program like this... not only for the 'search' bit, but being part of this team and making a contribution.

Do I think there is life out there?... I guess it all focuses upon the concept of definition of life. I often wonder if there is life, will the individuals be like us and will they have souls?

But I have a question for you all!

We once thought that the earth was the centre of our solar system and now realise that is scientifically incorrect( we were all so naive in those days). How come we think that we can be on the end of the evolutionary tree? Isn't that same narrow thinking.. because we don't have any scientific evidence at the moment we just accept that we are supreme and ipso facto there is no extention passed man in evolution. Isn't this the same razzamatazz thought expressed by our ancestors who thought that the Earth had to be the centre of the Universe?
