Personal background
I'm back! After a long absence, I'm back to Seti! :)
I've quit teaching and got a degree in Programming. I am now a ASP.NET and C# Web App programmer. :)

Curiosity is my soul and I am always seeking truth. I have tried my hand at poetry and story writing, but have been disappointed with the results. Perhaps I am too hard on myself, or perhaps I am just meant to enjoy the works of others.

I will leave you with two thoughts.

There is no spoon.

I think, therefore I am.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
A resounding YES, I believe that Extraterrestrial Life exists. Sometimes, I believe that they may already be here on earth. At the same time, there must be others still out in space, perhaps looking for us as we look for them. When and How? It would be perfect if Seti@home discovers it. When? That is not for me to guess. Perhaps it will be around 2012....

Of course there will be many dangers and benefits. We can learn so much, but what if they just want to take? We have the scenarios that goes along both lines. It will just be luck determining which will find us first or at least, which will contact us first, friends or enemies. Once again, we just have to wait and see.

Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find?

Aren't we already transmitting beacons? Isn't that what TV signals go? I watch too many movies, but it makes sense that after a while, the signals must leave earth and are sent inadvertently into space. Therefore, the information is out there. Everything that we have watched on TV is bouncing around in space. We must seem scary, weird and dangerous to other beings.

Why do I run SETI@home? Because it was an idea that I couldn't pass up. A chance to search for life from my very own computer? Wow!
For two years, I was unable to run the program. I am back now. I just wish I could understand the program better. It would also be cool to be able to hear some of it once in a while, even though I have heard that it is really annoying, it just would be interesting. This is a wonderful project. I have seen it mentioned in the news (special right after X-Files EndGame! :) I do wonder, occasionally, if this is just something to get into computers, to see what people are doing, etc. I guess watching X-Files has made me think about things sometimes. It could also be that journalistic blood that burns and questions everything. I don't know. But I am a part of the largest computer program in the world and it makes me very proud.
