Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
To assume that, out of an infinite universe, we are God's only creation is pretty silly.
Should we explore away from earth? Of course. That’s like asking should we leave home when we grow up. Not everyone wants too, but believe it or not, everyone should. Quit expecting a free ride at the expense of Mom nature.
Should we try and contact other life? Of course. If they’re friendly we’ll learn something if we don’t try to eradicate them first. If their not, we’ll still probably learn something.
What type of signal should we send? Some good dance music I think. Who could get angry over a nice waltz, or a fox trot, or maybe a good jive? With a little luck, by the time the recipients get here we will have reverted back to real music again and not scare them too badly.
I run SETI@home because an idle computer is the devil's workshop. It’s where spam and porn come from.
