Profile: Seti^

Personal background
My name is Sian and I live in Barry, South Wales in the United Kingdom. I am 34 years old. Unfortunately I managed to contract Multiple Sclerosis earlier this year do I had to give up my own business.

I have a varied and interesting hobby list. Mostly I enjoy karaoke, reading and looking after my mini menagarie to relax. Otherwise I spend my days running my own IRC network along with two other people. I am also contemplating taking another degree either in Law or in Social Sciences or Anthropology.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
If this planet is the only one in the entire universe and other surrounding galaxies, well that's just a waste of such beautiful space. I Am not sure when humans will discover life on other planets or in other spheres, but I would imagine that other forms of life would be discovered by accident. We are still discovering different life species here on earth by accident. With todays frightening climate of humans killing one another for their own monetary gain and being scared of terrorists I am not sure that any other life forms would be welcome on Earth. In fact, I believe that they would be treated as invaders by certain large counries and we would lose the chance to learn from them. Everything in this world seems to be treated with suspicion. Possible benefits could include stopping the ozone layer from degenerating, providing better ways for humans to heal themselves, better forms of non-polluting travel and better ways of caring for one another.

If humans transmitted a beacon we would need to make Earth and humans a welcoming place, not something that destroys its own life force and futher destroys its own planet. I think positie images of how families should be and how we look after our children should be sent. You never know maybe they could educate the population as a whole on how to provide without raping the Earth.

I began being interested in life elsewhere when I was about 10 years old. I had visited a friend in London and they took me to see the Planetarium. I was captivated and I have always believed, as I said above, that this universe is too small to just house humans. Originally I registered with Seti@home a few years ago, but, I couldn't remember my old account details so I began again about a year and a half ago.
