I am a 32 year old Systems Engineer that has always been interested in science. Its hard not to be when you were born while people were still going to and from the moon. When I was little I would lay out in the yard at night looking at the stars, planets, commets and trying to imagine what it would be like to see them up close.
The space sciences have always interested me to a great degree. I always wanted to contribute to SETI even to the degree that I considered contacting Greenbank and volunteering my services free of charge on weekends (and I am still considering it!) LOL. So I could in some way help out and finally I found SETI@HOME. Its not rocket science on my behalf by any degree, although it is serious science but still it is a way I can in some small fasion help out. As of today I have 7 machines running 24/7 processing data for seti@home. My friends think Im nuts but I love every minute of it....Well except the utility bills LOL. Thanks to all of you involved in the seti@home project for providing me a way to contribute.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Both are great projects! I believe the universe is way to big for us to be alone in it. We MUST keep listening for signs of life. If there is anyway I can help with that mission I will do so gladly.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
