Profile: Peter Al`Thor

Personal background
I`m a thirty something Scot with a healthy appetite for the unexplained ( no that doesn`t mean why Scotland can`t get very far in the World Cup, theres a perfectly rational explanation for that) evolved from an overdose on X-Files.
I enjoy landscape photography (on a amateurish level) and hope one day to take an incidental photograph of a UFO, a Ghostie, Nessie or one of my fellow countrymen sober on Hogmanay (Old Years Night for all the sassenachs out there).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I genuinely believe we are not in this alone as it’s been proven (by well-educated smug types that I’ve seen on the telly) that life is a very powerful force and finds all manner of ways to exist. Look at the multitude of environments we have on earth alone ranging from one extreme condition to the next, yet lifeforms inhabit each one albeit in different guises. If you then look at the infinite possibilities available on neighboring planets in just our own solar system, not to mention the Universe, then common sense dictates there must to be other lifeforms out there, higher up the evolutionary ladder (waiting for us poor slobs to play catch-up (2001 anyone?)) or lower down the ladder than us and can`t even tie their own shoe-laces yet.
I`d like to believe in a like-minded race of sentient beings on a similar planet to our own but one where the Scottish Football team continuously win the World Cup ala Brazil and Argentina (heh).
I’ve been running Seti now for over two years and will continue to run it until they (ET, little grey men or the shady Government hoaxers who have been pulling the wool over our eyes for the past 50 years or so) or we make first contact cause, hey why not, it beats the Microsoft Scrolling Marquee screensaver hands down and impresses some people no end when I tell them “yeah I’m doing that Seti thing”.
