Personal background
I am currently a college student going for a degree in MIS.

I have been involved with computers since I was born basically, and am currently the assistant network administrator at the local hospital. I have had some programming experience, but more of my skills lie with networking, I recently passed the Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) exam.

I am an avid gamer/power user. I build my own systems, and am currently running windows XP Pro and linux dual boot on my primary system.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think that there is other life out there, and there is a possibility that it is as intelligent or even more so than we are. I think we will find it when it is least expected and in a way that no one can fully predict...a radio signal is always a possibility. A benefit would be a renewed interest in the space program, and the people of the earth finally realizing how small and fragile we are. A danger would be mass hysteria, but I can only see that as happening if they showed up in orbit one day.

I run seti@home as a benchmark for my system ( I like to see how the time per unit goes down when I upgrade), and because my computer has nothing better to do with it's idle time. And if I were to be a part of the discovery, that would of course be very exciting.
