Profile: The Jedi Alliance - Kris

Personal background
I live in Ogden, UT, USA and among other thing am a member of The Jedi Alliance SETI@Home group.
In the physical world, I help my friend Jason run a computer store, InVision Computers. I have 4 web domains (one for the business, www.invision-computers.com, and 3 personal, www.ogdentechguy.com, www.firstnationalbankofjesus.com, www.assmail.net).
I drive a Chevy Astro and live in a studio apartment.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. It's more likely that extraterrestrial life exists than it doesn't - the likelihood that we are alone is far-fetched indeed. As for when we'll discover it, that depends on many things including how advanced they are compared to us, whether or not we or they develop faster than light travel or communications technologies, and when those technological breakthroughs happen. Whether or not we can detect the presence of intelligent extraterrestrial life by scanning the radio bands for patterns, but I for one have nothing against trying.
2. A beacon, eh? Not until we have something useful to say.
3. I run SETI@Home because I like to be a part of something. I also want to have the chance, however slight, of being the one whose computer finds definitive proof of exterrestrial intelligence, so that I can say that, in some small way, I was instrumental in finding it, especially since intelligence is so scarce here on Earth. :)
