Personal background
Hi, I'm from NY and I am a sociologist, scientist and inventor. Always looking and working to make the world a better place to live in.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I firmly believe that it's only a matter of WHEN we find life out there... not IF. Life has no barriers, no restriction... life is tenacious.
My only real fear is that during our exploration of the universe- that we inadvertantly contaminate another world causing a biological holocaust. This includes the possibility of cross contamination from microbes in the far upper atmospheres and deep space.
Transmitting a beacon... a tough question in itself. If we exist, it is conceivable that more evolved as well as different forms of intelligent life exist... if we transmit a beacon who could we be inviting?
I run SETI@home as my contribution to society. If every computer owner in the world donated a small amount of their computer's run time for this project- we be that much closer to the final real truth... that we are not alone.
I would like to see this download made more widely available with new computer purchases to increase public awareness.
