Personal background
Hello Friends,

My Name is Heather, I am 29 years old and live in a sleepy little town in central Maine, USA. Maine is a quiet state where things are a bit behind the times where I live, matter of fact we still don't have cable t.v. in my area, but to my salvation we finally got the internet a few years ago. Don't get me wrong though, I love where I live. I love camping, photography, horses, sunsets and sitting by a campfire in the evening gazing up at the stars in their seemless infinity getting dizzy wrapped up in all their amazement. Last fall I had the most awesome privledge of viewing the most beutiful meteor shower I have ever seen in my life, too many to count burning so brightly straight across the night sky, one after another all night long until night was overtaken by day. It's sights like this that keep me out all night looking upward toward the nights sky at this mysterious wonder we call the universe, my addiction, my thirst to know.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do I think extraterrestrial life exists? Yes I do. I might not have proof, but I have hope, and the belief that there is. There are so many galaxies out there besides our own that could sustain intellegent life that it is astronomical, beyond comprehension. It's just a matter of when, and how we as people on this planet earth are contacted. We already as a people have taken the step forward to reach out and make contact, although we could do more, but things being as they are it all takes time for these messages to travel. I can imagine once these messages are received it would be the same for whomever received them as it would be for us as a people, amazement, then time would be required to decipher the message, and more time to send a message back in return. This is why I believe SETI is very important to mankind, the watchdog of the universe looking out for those wishing to make contact, or those whom may be returning our hello. I am proud to be a member of SETI@home using my home computer for something I feel is important to all mankind whether they are concerned or not, at least I will be listening and looking up to the sky above, waiting.
