Profile: Lawrence Schulman

Personal background
I live on Mount Desert Island in Maine most of the year; the rest in Paris, where I lived for 27 years. I love Paris. I also love movies (Robert Bresson), classical music (Bruckner, Mahler, Schubert, Schumann, Strauss), vocal jazz (Maxine Sullivan, Peggy Lee, Mildred Bailey), and what is called classical American popular music (roughly, the 1920s to the late 1950s). I am proud to be "PACS"ed with my partner of 16 years. My mom used to call me "King Shit" and "a pill", and most of my friends would agree. Those that survive appreciate me as a considerate, demanding and caring individual. Professionally, I am a radio producer, music critic, translator, and liner-notes writer. I have had a passion for Judy Garland since I was 12 or 13, and have written extensively about her for the ARSC Journal. I have low tolerance for those who say things such as "between you and I", "awesome", "like", and "good" abusively.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
My gut feeling is that we are alone in the universe, despite the improbability of that.
