Profile: H. Jeremy Wu

Personal background
Hi, there! Greetings!!
I am a system engineer working at Lucent Technologies/Bell Laboratories-Merrimack Valley.

Born in Taipei, Taiwan, I came to United States in 1987 to pursue higher
education, and recieved my Master degrees(in Electrical and in Applied
Mathematics), as well as Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering from the
University of Massachusetts.

I am 38, a father of four(with help, of course...^_^), a christian, and am active
in many things.

I consider myself a curious explorer. I'd like to find out about new things,
get to know new people, and facinate in God's wonderous creation. Fishing(fresh
water or salt water), camping, chess, bridge, sight seeing, photography,
astronomy, and writing are the things I am into, just to name a few. By the way,
I also play guitar and I'd really like to learn how to play Chinese flute, but
don't know how to get the instrument and get started... yet. If you can help,
please contact me at hjwu@email.com.

I learned about SETI@Home from the magazine ASTRONOMY and Planetary Society
couple years ago. I am just glad to be able to contribute and make our shared
vision come true.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Since I was a little kid, I have always been facinated by the universe out there:
The planets, the stars and nebulas... Their existence, creation, size, and ...
distance. Are there curious living beings out there, also wondering about the
universe!? How do they communicate? What do they look like? Where is their
world? How advanced are their science and technologies?

I am helping out SETI@Home, because I believe those people who established
SETI, share the same dream and vision as myself. If there are really ETI's out
there, I'd like also to be the first ones to share the excitement.

Working at Bell Laboratories, I have seen constantly new theories & new
concepts being R&D'ed and realized. Human minds are exploring the unknown.
I sincerely believe that one day, we will be able to visit other worlds,
with ETI or not...

While jotting down my thoughts and learned at the same time that the terrorists
catastrophically destorying thousands of innocent lives in the US, you start
to ask "Why?" I just wish that we humans someday will learn to, live peacefully
among ourselves, work together with one another, and broaden our horizon of
values & beliefs.

I also believe that is what God wants us to do, and why He created such a
beautiful universe for us to explore.
