Im 23 years of age and live in Manchester, England. I am currently working as a Security Officer while I wait to be sent to the Army selection center. I enjoy reading, writing and keep fit but my favourite pastime would be spending time with my girl!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think ET is out there somewhere, to think otherwise would be downright arrogant. And I certainly wouldnt be running Seti@home. I'm not too sure about the possible benefits. Of course the sciences would have a field day, prodding this and poking that. Biologists would have the time of their lives. And we would of course gain new knowledge, whether or not 'they' are intelligent or even sentient. The possible dangers, global domination aside :o), would have to be transferable diseases. We would have no way of knowing what impact we would have on their species and vice versa.
Why do I run Seti@home? well, because I believe that the good people at SETI are doing a worthwhile job and need all the help that we, Joe Public, can provide.
