Personal background
I'm 27 years old and a proud father. Originally from Michigan, but currently residing in San Antonio, TX. I'm a contract employee for a major telecommunications organization. I design and implement microsoft based networks and specialize in thin client computing.

I suppose that the primary reason for doing this is out of curiosity, and also because of the creativity that the SETI team has shown in designing this application.

I'm proud to be taking part in this project because it appears that there has been some "creative problem solving" behind this project.

It also erks me to see the amount of system idle time that is wasted on a typical machine.

I don't think this project will actually make contact with any other civilizations out there... but... you never know how else this data may be handy. Thinking outside the box might also show some "creativity" to solving other little mysteries that are apart of our surroundings.

If we are lucky enough to contact some other civilization that is much more advanced than we are... I'd hope that I could send them one question.

"Why the hell haven't you contacted us... to show us how to live in a society that isn't based on money?"

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think life exists out there. To think that it can't exist is like thinking that the earth is the center of the universe.

We probably won't discover extraterrestrial life... they're avoiding us.

No sense in transmitting a beacon... save the money and do something useful with it. If there is life that is further along than we are... it will probably find us if it already hasn't. If it's not... then look at how long it took us to come up with a project that is able to "listen" to such a small portion of our sky.

If we we're to transmit a beacon... I'd send a plea for help.

I run the seti@work program because it's fun... The project is quite fascinating from a technological standpoint...and the only suggestion that I could have is... figure out how to make someone with my skills more involved - because I'm jealous.

By the way... I'm including a picture of my daughter... she's worth more to this world than I am anyways.
