Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Does alien life exist ?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of contact ?

Yes, it'll come to us before we get people into deep space.
Benefits: technology, education, knowledge.
Dangers: Existing religions will vanish, new religions will start up.
The visitors will want the remaining Earth's resources
to get back home again.

2. Should we try to communicate with ET and what should we say ?

We already have: TV and radio.
We should send apologies for the naff TV shows.

3. Why do you run SETI@home?

To make use of otherwise wasted CPU cycles, and to get into the charts.

4. What are your thoughts on the SETI project ?

Cool idea. But how do you know our science is up to finding
alien signals and lifeforms? We might depend on frequency, amplitude,
repitition, carbon, water, etc - but others might not.

Keep up the good work, but don't be surprised if aliens
arrive unnanounced and undetected :-)
