Personal background
I am retired scientist from Venezuela. I have been using SETI for more than 5 years. Actualy I am doing a lot of programing specially in genetic algoritms. I hope Seti will have all the funds necesary to function for many years.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, I think extrarerrestrial life exist. It is not going to be soon. The distances from the nearest stars are to big and no response could be received in a life existence. The benefi could be enourmous the first one is that we are not alone, the danger is a misinterpretation of the signal.
Yes we must transmit a beacon for others to find. Mainli mathematics symbol in one or others forms. Seem to me that real objects will be very dificult to interpret for the extraterrestres.
I feel that I am doing somethings for the comunication with the universe. It is an excellent proyect and I must congratulate Seti foe sponsering it.
Some time it takes time to start a new unity. The time for each unity vary to much. I had units of more than 40 hours and others less than 10.
