I live in Ealing, London and works for BBC Technology.
First ran SETI quite a few years ago, but dropped out for a couple of years..
Now running SETI@home on:
* Dual Pentium III 500Mhz with 1GB RAM. Running a stripped down RedHat Linux 9 build. SETI@home runs on both processors. This box also runs a few services for my local network.
*AMD Athlon XP 1900 with 512MB RAM. Running Windows XP (my workstation).
* AMD Athlon 1.2 Ghz (clocked at 1.32) with 512MB RAM. Running Windows XP (another workstation).
Hopefully that should see the work units rack up a bit quicker. :)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The ultimate question: Are we alone?
Who knows, but unless we make a concerted effort to look we will never find out. I for one can't believe that we (life on earth) are the only sentient beings in the universe.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
