I am an IT Consultant living in Congleton, Cheshire (about 20 miles south of Manchester in the UK). Married to Eve We have 4 children (who have all flown the nest) and one grand-daughter.
I enjoy a bit of golf, a little fishing, a good red wine and an interesting book.
I've been interested in the cosmos ever since I looked up at the skies as a young boy to be told "That bright point moving across the sky is Sputnik".
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
With all the billions of stars out there there must be intelligent life other than ours. I'm not sure that SETI will ever find it because I suspect that the use of radio waves as a form of communication probably spans such a short period of any civilisations life.
I run SETI because if we do find life I want to be the one to do it. Also I like to compete with other members of the same team to be one of the better crunchers.
Wouldn't it be nice to role Seti Classic time (at say 25 points per hour) up into our present totals so that our teams can get the credit?
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
