Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do I think extraterrestrial life exists?
I hope we aren't alone!
Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find?
Yes! We should constantly send a signal that will not be confused with background noise.
I run SETI@Home as the project is an experiment in more than just "looking for E.T."
The project has expanded the realm of the supercomputer.
Hopefully one day we will see more projects with decidedly practical application being ran as screen savers and such on a great many machines.
Perhaps we will use the computer technology that arises from SETI@Home to cure disease, design fuels that are truly clean and green, . . .
