Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe E.T. does exist otherwise why would I search for him? However I do not believe
we will find him for some time due to distances to other star systems, some planets being more
technologically advanced and some planets being less technologically advanced, the places where
Seti is looking, the frequency at which Seti is looking. All these things could mean we may miss
other intelligent life-forms.
Another problem is E.T. may not want to be found. If he is more technologically advanced, then
he may be waiting to make contact with us.
Space is so vast. One of our nearest galaxies, Andromeda, is about 2.5 million light years away
from Earth. That means even at the speed of light, it would take E.T. 2.5 million years to get
here. And thats a close galaxy in our neighbourhood !! So why do I look? Because if we don't look,
we shall never find.
