Introduced to Astromony at Valdosta State University while working on my Physics degree.
Now have a Masters in EE and am working for LXE in Atlanta as a Project Manger in the Engineering Group.
I got a new little girl (born 8/17/01). I cannot wait to introduce her to God's universe.
SETI@Home got my attention with its prioneering idea of distributive processing.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Not sure ETs exist but quoting the movie "Contact"
2. Yes. Prime numbers. Since Light travel is impossible now and the travel-time for a message is so long, The most important message to an alien culture is that intelligent life exist elsewhere.
3. Personally, I doubt we will find anything out there, but the concept is tremendous and well-worth my screen saver time. Its also a really cool screen saver that spurs conversation.
I have it running on a number of lab PCs as well as my laptop and home computer
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
