Personal background
I am a laid off Network Engineer. Cisco switches, routers and network management software. I'm beginning to think an IT job is as scarce as extra-terrestrial life. If anyone knows of a good opportunity please let me know. I love to hunt and fish. I enjoy a good game of chess. I believe the only thing more magnificent and beautiful than the heavens is a pretty girl.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am certain that extraterrestrial life exists. I believe that life is simply part of the natural world just like a rock, tree, hydrogen atom, etc.. Nowhere in nature do you find only one kind of thing. Where you find one tree, there is another tree. Where there is one planet, there are other planets. Where there is one sun, there are other suns. Viewing the question of life from a universe perspective, I am certain that where there is life, there is more life.

My only fear and uncertainty concerning life is a concept I read once in an Isaac Asimov book. It went something like this, 'Maybe the reason we have not heard from another intelligent life-form is because once that life-form developes the capability to destroy itself, it does'.

I pray that is not the case. I pray we are simply passing through an adolescent stage of our evolution much like reckless teenagers where some obviously fail, most go on to be sensible responsible adults.

Let's be adults.
