Profile: Fyrn

Personal background
I am a computer type person living and working in Lafayette, Louisiana, USA. I work for a local hydrographic survey group processing single and multibeam sonar bathymetry. Some very interesting stuff. I have traveled to Chile in South America, Hong Kong, and even Pouson in Korea.

What do I enjoy?
I enjoy playing with, on, and around computers. Computers have always intrigued me. I enjoy reading, playing with LEGOs, and sleeping. Definately sleeping.

Anyway, simple and to the point.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I really appreciate the effort that the SETI@Home project has put into allowing anyone and everyone who wishes to lend a hand to do so. I feel strongly that we are not alone in this universe. Even if life proves to be exceedingly sparse, I still think there are others out there. I don't know if this project or any other will ever find ET life, but I do believe in the effort to try. One of our driving needs as humans is to sate our curiosity, and as long as we never find an answer to the question of ET life, we will always wonder and we will continue to look in some way, form, or fashion. It's that simple.

As for the implications of such a discovery...only time will tell. Some say it will mark the end of structured society, others say it will be the beginning of a greater triumph. All I know is that it will mark a change in how humankind views itself in relation to the "big picture".
