Profile: Henrik Bennetter

Personal background
Born in 1970, former computer-geek
that enjoys an occasional round of golf and a run or a hike.
Big movie-fan, mostly sci-fi (surprise!).
Actually, I'm a fan of most things technical, and am excited to live in such stimulating times when mankind
is on the verge of taking the ultimate step into
space-exploration.
People may argue that we should chart all there is to chart on our own planet first, but I see no conflict between terrestrial and extraterrestrial-science.
Both fields could help us understand more about our own existence.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I was around 6 years old when the first Star Wars movie came out, but I wasn't allowed to see it until I was eleven. You may think that put a hold to my fascination with science, but it was quite the opposite. It only boosted my desire to make a difference, and since I'm not one of those overly intelligent people that understands math and physics and such, I was delighted to find that
there was a way for a "normal" person to contribute to the bettering of mankind.
'Cause that is what I believe the result of contact with extraterrestrials would be - a step forward in our own evolution. There is no doubt that they're out there, we just have to find them. Or they find us. Certainly it couldn't hurt to transmit a beacon containing information
roughly the same as the viking-probe - images of the human race and greetings in all of earths languages.
It's like being neighbours on a street, we shouldn't isolate ourselves on our small planet in this vast universe.
