Personal background
I am Italian, I've studied International and Diplomatic Sciences at Turin University.
Also I am part of a Informatic Society of Turin where I work as Management and Finance Director.
I've got a specialization in Economics International Law.
I speak English, French and German, I contribute with many Foreign Society in juridical circuit.
I am 28 years old and I live in Rivoli, near Turin.
I have learned about SETI from friends and I started on 12 of April 2001.
Now I am part of the new big group called SETI Italia which Internet site address is http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; you can view our performance at http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/team_display.php?teamid=30233 and take part to our forum.
I crunch data, at the moment, with 5 PC:
PIV 3,2 GHz (FSB 800) with 3 Gb of DDR DRAM (400 MHz) at home;
PIV 3,0 GHz (FSB 800) with 2,5 Gb of DDR DRAM (400 MHz) at work;
PIV 3,0 GHz (FSB 800) with 2 Gb of DDR DRAM (400 MHz) at home;
PIV 3,0 GHz (FSB 800) with 2 Gb of DDR DRAM (400 MHz) at work;
PIV 2,66 GHz (FSB 800) with 2 Gb of DDR DRAM (400 MHz) at home.
Those are my personal and favourite monsters that makes fire every day of the year.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe in extraterrestrial life, however I think that a contact with them is a very difficult thing considering the distance and the fact we don't know which way they use to communicate.
Besides in the film Contact, the protagonist's father say that "if we are alone in the Universe, then this is only a waste of space".
I think (and hope) we should send as more info as possible about our location, our life and our history even if I think that they exist from longer that us and so they know indeed all about our dear Earth.
I run SETI@home because I believe in cooperation and this is the right way for every important project to get some results in less time. About my views on the project I can only hope that the effort of some many people can be useful to science in many ways even if SETI will not find his/our E.T.
SETI@Home is one of the best ideas I have ever seen!
