Profile: Ben Green

Personal background
I am 35 this year (2002) I have a degree in Computer Science. I believe that Seti is one of the most worthwhile things to do for the planet earth and human kind. when I think of every work unit that is uploaded, I believe that there are possibilities of contacting other civilizations out there. A quote from one of my favorite movies Contact says, "If there wasn't life out there it would be an awful waste of space" Married a second time for 10 years now, have three kids, I try to encourage them to the science of space exploration even though they are into other things now, I hope they will see the importance of research.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that other life exists. I think it will take a nationwide awareness to get more people involved in the search. As far as dangers, I don't believe that there would be any dangers other than maybe not being able to visit the contacts due to the time it would take to get there. We would have to build a ship that would have to house several generations of humans to go there. I believe that we should have space beacons and that we should go even further with unmanned spacecraft sent in several directions. I think that as far as suggestions, I think the SETI program should bring awareness via media and especially television. I would even approach computer companies that manufacture PC's to have it pre-installed.
