Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Well. For me it's simply not possible from the mathematical side than only there is Earth with inteligent beings on it. There just have to be other forms of life, not exactly carbon based all over the Universe. The question is will we ever find each other. The distances are enormous and the speed is limited. That is what makes it a bit funny. It's just like we're ants on a giant football field, starting on the other sides and looking one for another. Theoretically possible to find - practically not really:) I think the same situation occurs in our Universe.
There may be other life forms who are doing the same as we are... and... our signals may go so long, that an reply will come back to the sender for...i'm not in the mood to think even of that;)But there's always a chance that there will be something of a breakoff and who knows.
One thing that only irritates me in the whole case, not SETI i'm talking about. If i remember correctly we've sent a satellite or something similar with a presentation of our race, our achievements and structure (i mean body - forgot the scientific word;) ). and what if some 'things' really get it. And waht if they aren't friendly?:) Wouldn't they just know our weak points - of course the weakest and the strongest, in one, points of our civilisation is... man.
Ok...went a bit too far.That's enough;) |
