Profile: N4IXT

Personal background
Amateur Radio Operator (N4IXT is my callsign), this is my second go round using Seti@home. Used it several years ago, back in the version 1 days. (Don't ask me what my user id was then, don't have a clue.)

Enjoy reading about science, astronomy, and of course ham radio. Am currently running the software on 3 PCs, hope to add a fourth over the weekend, and if I can get an old laptop to work a fifth.

CQ Aliens, CQ Aliens....
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Statistically, the odds are that it does exist. Just too many planets in too big of an area. The potential benefits are great, from the sharing of technology. Of course, the risk is we might become lunch for someone.

2. We're already transmitting beacons, in the form of TV and Radio Signals. Somehow I doubt reruns of "I Love Lucy" are the best thing to send, but if the aliens land and say "Take us to your Fred and Ethel", we're in trouble.

3. It's exciting to be part of serious scientific research. It's nice to feel like I'm contributing to the exploration of our universe.
