Personal background
I have an extensive background in the sciences with organic chemistry and toxicology leading the pack. Have done some teaching, but working in the private sector, I found, would involve me with corporations with heavy ties with the Pentagon. I told those Bozo's I might make a batch of poison gas - but I wouldn't guarantee where I would let it go. For some reason I no longer get offered jobs....hmmm.

In that my current (undisclosed) business venture, which is contingent on people with expendable incomes, is not doing to well at present (people are sewing their $$$ up their mattresses)I find I have time on my hands to continue my studies into cosmology and astronomy.

I live in Northern Vermont. Beautiful country!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Does ET exist? Of course! To assume that humans are the only life in this vast universe is tantamount to most gross example of imperialism I have ever heard. A pre-Copernican funhouse of ignorance. However if ET is running a search similar to this one, thus far they may have picked up Orson Welles' War of the Worlds and reruns of I Love Lucy. Hence they may be moving further away from us.

I think a high-powered laser beacon would be a logical next step. If not to talk directly, at least to let ET know where not to put the highway.

I run SETI at home as I believe there has to be intelligent life OUT THERE somewhere. As far as Earth is concerned, I believe the jury is still out.
